At Pettan, you can customize more than just the material and typeface.
We also offer options for engraving consultation, design previews, Hanko cases, and Shuniku (traditional Japanese stamp ink) to suit your needs and preferences.

Get Help Choosing Your Engraving

If you’re unsure what to choose, Pettan is here to help.
On the product page, select “Get Help Choosing Your Text” under Engraving Preference, tell us what you have in mind, and place your order.

After your order is placed, Pettan will contact you by email and help you decide what characters or text to engrave on your Hanko.
We can also help you create a distinctly Japanese Hanko using Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, or other options that suit your name and preferences.

This service is specifically for deciding the text or characters to be engraved.
Your Hanko impression design will be created after the engraving text has been finalized.

Preview Your Design

This optional service allows you to review how your Hanko impression will look before engraving begins.
If you’d like a preview, select “Yes, send me a preview” under “Preview Your Design” when placing your order.

Once your engraving text and order details have been finalized, your Hanko impression design will be prepared.
We’ll email you a link to review your design online, usually within approximately one week.

Open the link in the email to view your design.
If you’re happy with it, click “Make Decision” and select “Approve.”

If you’d like a change, select “Changes Required,” click “Add Comment,” and enter your requested changes.

Once your design is approved, we’ll begin engraving your Hanko.
If we don’t receive a response within 7 days after sending your design preview, we’ll proceed with engraving using the design provided.

If you choose not to receive a design preview, we’ll proceed with design preparation and engraving once your order details have been finalized.

Note:

  • One revision is included free of charge. Additional revisions are $10 each.
  • Design previews are provided through Ziflow, a third-party online review service.
  • Choosing a design preview may extend the time before your order is shipped, as additional time is required for your review and approval.
  • Get Help Choosing Your Engraving and Preview Your Design are separate options.
    Even if you ask us for help choosing your engraving text, you can still choose whether or not you’d like to receive a design preview.

Hanko Cases

Every Hanko comes with a traditional drawstring storage pouch at no extra charge.
If you’d like extra protection for your Hanko, you can upgrade to a dedicated case for an additional fee.
We’ll provide a case that fits the shape and size of the Hanko you order.

Shuniku

Add Shuniku, traditional Japanese stamp ink, for +$9.90.
It’s a convenient addition if you plan to use your Hanko at home, at work, or while you’re out and about.

Your Digital Hanko

Every PETTAN Hanko comes with a digital version of your finished seal design.

When your Hanko is shipped, we’ll send you a link to your Digital Hanko.

Open the link, select the menu icon (☰),, and click “Download original” to download your file.

You can use your Digital Hanko by inserting the image into documents and other compatible digital files.

  • Digital Hanko files are delivered through Ziflow, a third-party online review service.
